PROFESSIONAL GEMOLOGICAL LABS TEST

Gemology is a geoscience and a branch of mineralogy that deals with
identification of natural and artificial gemstone materials. These labs
consist of teams of jewelers that are trained and qualified to evaluate
gems; they will provide you with an accurate grading report of your
gemstone. Gemologists will provide you with a report that lets you know
exactly what your stone is. This will reassure both buyers and
sellers—leaving them in full confidence about what they are buying or
what they are selling.

THERMAL CONDUCTIVITY PROBE-AKA DIAMOND TESTER

  • Acquire a thermal conductivty probe or meter. Becouse diamonds are effective heat conductors, the diamond will dispers heat rapidly after being warmed. If it disperses heat at a Slower rate, the Diamond is not real.

  • THIS TEST IS INCONCLUSIVE WITH MOISSANITE STONES*

FLORESCENCE TEST

Place the Diamond under a hig-powered UV light. If it is real, it will glow blue under this UV light.

ELECTRICITY TEST

Test your loose stone for elctric conductivity. Diamonds resist electricity so they will not conduct electricity

WEIGHT

  • Fakes are more dense
  • A Cubic zirconia will weight about 1.7 times as much as a diamond of the same volume. If you have n unmounted stone, obtain a gem that you know is fake and has about the same Volume as your umounted stone. If the unmounted stone is the same weight or heavier than your known fake, then you have a fake on your hands
